Welcome to the forum Ordhume. I look forward to hearing some of the stories you have to tell. Like you i am a veteran but from a later time, joining 2 para in 1977 and staying with them for 20 odd years, serving in Ireland and the Falklands.

Hello I am new to the forum. reading through some of the posts I found some interesting facts as well as memories.
As my username suggests I was an Ord-Hume boy. that is to say I joined the army straight from school and was a band boy under the tuition of Sidney Org Hume the celebrated band master and composer. After 4 years I decided I wanted to play soldiers so transfered to a rifle company of the Northamptons and never looked back as promotion for ex bandsmen was always swift.
Invalided out after trouble in S Arabia in the 60's Still have contact with most of my mates who are not now pushing up daisies and still do my bit for SSAFA (Forces Help)
Look forward to chatting with some of you although I am not one of these 24/7 computer addicts.![]()

For those that served, fought and died. We will remember them.
